turnA quick guide to how this Web site will work.

I’m going to have different types of posts here. They’ll all be related to my quest to run the 2014 Boston Marathon, but I’m going to break it into some major categories. That way, you can pick and choose what kind of content is interesting to you.

The Cause. I’m doing this for a reason. When I talk about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, it will be here.

Running Log. Oh, the gory details. My RunKeeper account is connected to this site. When I run, the record shows up on the log. Treadmill or road, the details will be in the log, often including a little note about how it went.

Head Trip. Three or four times a month, I’ll take you through my mental journey. I think running a marathon is probably 90% mental. Here’s where I’ll share exactly how mental it is (or perhaps, how mental I’ve become).

Om Nom. Nutrition. Food and Drink. Whether it’s on the road, the night before, or a recovery meal, I’ll share what’s going in my body here. Sometimes with epicly delicious recipes…

Brain Candy. Stuff for the runner’s brain. Books, blogs, magazine articles, etc.

Gear. Clothing, shoes, et cetera.

Tunes. I know some people are adamantly opposed to listening to music while you run, and we’ll talk about that in greater detail in other places, but I do listen while I run. See the disclaimer page. It’s not safe and nobody should do it because I do. Make your own decisions, eh? For me, I take steps to be sure I can hear road noise. What will you do to assure your own safety?

Books. One of the ways I while away the hours is to listen to books. These are pure diversions; stories I like that keep me from paying too much attention to the “quit monster.”

Races! A lot of races will be run between now and the day of the marathon. I’ll post about them here.

If you want a more comprehensive view, here’s a link to everything… the archive page.
