I’ve been looking at my running schedule and trying to figure out what comes next. I’d applied to run either the Berlin, New York, or Marine Corps Marathon in the fall, but each of these races is a lottery, and I didn’t get in to any of them.
Team In Training has a team for both Marine Corps and New York, but the fund raising minimum was higher than I felt like I could fund on my own. After raising over $9,000 for the LLS, I knew that running another charity race in 2014 was out of the question unless I could self-fund it.
That’s when I found Wounded Warriors Family Support. The minimum fund raising for this worthy group is only $400. My company matches my gift to the charity, so for $200, I’m in. It’s a good deal for a worthy cause… I signed up.
I’ve run a couple half marathons in the last couple of weeks, and I also landed on another race, but it will take some time for me to get that all documented here. Suffice to say, my running log is going to start showing more serious miles in the months ahead.
In the meantime, if you’d like to help me double the minimum fundraising goal, please drop a sawbuck or two in the hat. Considering how much our soldiers and their families give, it’s the least we can do.
