I feel time is slipping through my fingers…
Part of it is the traditional end-of-year rush that goes on where I work. So much to do, and so little time to do it. Couple that with some well earned vacation that just started, I’ve been pushing hard to get stuff done. Failing to get it all done. Trying to cut myself some slack when it doesn’t all come together perfectly.
I think that’s part of what it is to be a long distance runner. You have to make time to run. Sometimes it’s really hard. Sometimes it’s impossible. Like today. I didn’t get a run in at lunch time, and I probably won’t get a run in at home tonight. I’m scheduled for four miles, and they’re just not going to happen. I walked earlier today, and that’s probably as good as it gets.
It’s like so much sand slipping through my fingers… (yeah, those are my hands in the photo)
So now I’m looking at ten days off from work, so for vacation, I’m trying to figure out how many miles I’m going to give myself. I’m thinking somewhere around 40. And I don’t think it will be a challenge to fit them in. I think for the next week and a half, I’ll hang on to some of that sand, and I’m really looking forward to it.
