There is SO MUCH GOING ON.
Okay, first of all, I effectively have four work days left this year. I work the 30th and 31st, so really it’s six days left, but I have to have all my work done this week. By Thursday.
Second… it’s nearly Christmas, right? Today’s what, the 15th? Guess how many Christmas presents I’ve purchased. That’s right. ZERO. Well, I got myself this ornament. Do you like it? I’m in the reflection.
And I’m not buying S anything for Christmas. Something about a car in the driveway that she can drive. Yeah, that’s enough spent there. Oh, and a driver’s license. And auto insurance. And floor mats. And gas. And a windshield scraper. Because it’s cold out there!!!
Yesterday, Team In Training kicked off in a BIG way.
It was our first team run. It was so much fun getting to meet the rest of the crazy people who are in for the journey. Here’s me with some of the “water” stop volunteers. I say water, but it was really a slushee by the time I got there.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s volunteers are AWESOME. 15 degrees out? Other things you’d rather be doing on a Saturday morning? Why, NO. Nothing else they’d rather be doing. They’d rather come down and pour drinks for the TEAM. Pretzels, candy, water, and Gatorade. Well, Gatorade slushees. These guys are AWESOME.
And then I got to meet Meghan along the way.
This is Me, Meghan, and Rob. We’ll be running the 2014 Boston Marathon together in less than five months. Rob and I are committed, but Meghan’s a survivor. We’ve dealt with blood cancers from a loved one’s perspective. She’s had to deal with it personally. I don’t really know her well yet, but I look forward to getting to know her over the next several months, as she’s part of the Team this year. Hi, Meghan! Thanks for sharing your story with us!
Other than that, not much going on. Car shopping. Meeting the Team. Raising some money to kick blood cancer to the curb. Shoveling some snow (or as we like to call it, cross training). What an amazing weekend…
And then, I found time to grab another eight miles today.
