For a “first time” 5K, the organizers did a pretty good job. Food, soda, beer, band… not bad, all in all. My only real complaint is that I ended up running a 6K, as did most of the runners.
There was a spot with a water stop where we were supposed to turn around and run back the other way, but the lead runners missed those instructions and kept on running. Then the rest of us followed. There was no signage telling runners to turn around, so everyone kept the mistake going, and the volunteers at that water stop did not, apparently, know that their station marked the end of that part of the course.
So I missed out on an opportunity to PR my 5K, though at that pace I probably would have finished below 25 minutes for the first time. Oh well! I’ll take my 29:10 6K and be happy with it!
