You ever just feel like jumping? Today I took the best call I’ve received in a long time. It was Colleen from the Massachusetts TNT chapter.
I’m in! I’m part of Team In Training! I’ll be running with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s team in the 2014 Boston Marathon.
To say I’m excited would be an understatement…
The day started out pretty glum for me. I woke up with what can only be described as Claire’s cold brewing at the back of my throat. Typical… when one of us gets sick, the other usually waits to come down with whatever bug it is until the first starts to feel better. And this is happening with my first half marathon only four days away! I grabbed some zinc tablets, took my vitamins, sucked down as much water as I could, and muscled through it. Throughout the day I was wondering if I would run tonight, but then I got the call at the end of my work day (pinch me!), and all of the sudden the cold just didn’t matter any more.
When I got home from work, I did a little research on running while sick. The best advice I could find basically stated that if it’s above the neck, go for it. Fevers or chest colds, better take some time off. Right now, this thing is all in my head, so I jumped on the treadmill for a quick five miles.
It’s time for a late dinner now, but I couldn’t let the day go by without sharing the news. Now that I’m coming down off my euphoria, I’m going to grab a bite and succumb to sleep. Let my body fight off this cold a little. And run some more tomorrow.
